Ever Want to Identify Someone in an Old Photograph?

I wrote these chapters while I was trying to identify some pictures I received. As I learned more about who the people were in the picture, I wrote how I found out. To find out how I did it, read this blog in chapter order, almost like I first wrote it. Start with Chapter "#1. When You're A Kid." Then go to #2. "Edna Moody." Then go to#3. "Back to the Box."

Jonesville Mine Pictures, 1940's

Here are some more Jonesville mine pictures that wouldn't fit. They were all taken between 1946 and 1950.

The "Dapper Guy"

The "Dapper Guy"
Who are these men?

The Dapper Guy

This blog, so far, has been about figuring out who it was in this picture of two men, one young and the other a little older. The older guy on the right looks like a 1940's movie star. I had never seen this picture nor either one of the men in it. I figured out who the man, who I called "The Dapper Guy." was but still do not have any clues who the man on the left is, except that I think he is a family member because the picture appears to have been taken in a studio, probably for a special occasion. If I do figure it out, I will describe the process.

Grampa's Thoughts -

Who knows what this blog is going to be about. I don't. But if you look at it once in a while, maybe you'll learn something about me and what I'm interested in.

Right now that seems to be family history. Going through this Stephens box has stimulated something.

I have other boxes. One for my uncle Lynnfield Moody. I think he had a daughter by a previous marrige, but I never met her.

I have a Grandma Moody box. She clipped a lot of news articles, and I haven't thrown them away.

Another box is the Grandma B - Bockhouse box. I already wrote about her son, Burnell, who died when he was 16 from that box.

There's also a box about my parents Tom and Eunice Stark.

In these boxes are clippings, cards, notes and other wonderful memories of their lives. I think these things usually get thrown away soon after the funeral, but somehow I've managed to acquire them.

Then there are the boxes and boxes of our and our children's lives.

Someone said they are going to get a backhoe and clean out that garage where a lot of this stuff is. Don't do that. Find someone who cares about the history of people and family members and give the stuff to them, if I don't get it all archived before I die.....

I think you've got a long wait anyway.
